Join Clyde and Niki Butcher at their Big Cypress Gallery for a meet-and-greet.  They will both be showing their latest works and will be giving gallery talks through the day.  Clyde will also be autographing books and photos. In our back showroom we will have on display a portion of the Exhibit title: Inspired: by Clyde Butcher.  This was an art project that Venice Art Center did.  We wanted to share a part of it with you.  This exhibit will be on display until January 31, 2018 Click here to RSVP for the open house event and receive a special offer. THE INSPIRATION FOR THE EXHIBIT: The exhibit is based on the telephone game where people take turns whispering a message into the ear of the next person in line. By the time the last person speaks it out loud, the message has radically changed. The email call to artists for the exhibit was last April and the deadline for entering the show was May 31st. Artists names were drawn lottery style for positions in each of the five chains of art. A photograph of the original artwork(by Clyde or Niki Butcher) was emailed to the first person in the chain. The artist used the piece as inspiration for his or her work and had two weeks to complete the piece enough to email a photograph back to the Art Center to be sent to the next person in the chain. Unlike the telephone game, the artists do not know where the original piece came from, or the person prior or subsequent. All media are represented in the exhibit and you will be amazed and inspired at the sweeping transformation from the original photo.
